J. L. Roden, focusing on the topic of “A Place of Safety,” first looks at some salient verses which seem to imply that a place of safety depicts a desolate wilderness area with few inhabitants. Some of the scriptures may have referred to Christians escaping out of Jerusalem for the survival of the church. Actually, the church has reaped the survival benefits of having been scattered. To the church of Philadelphia in Revelation 3, there appears a promise of protection, but it does not say it is a specific location, and it could also allow for God to protect His people wherever they are. Elijah indeed fled when he perceived he was in imminent danger. He was apparently unaware of 7000 fellow believers that God had individually protected. God protected Daniel, but did not take him out of a place of danger. God provided a place of safety for Noah and his family. David was protected and hidden from danger. God promises protection and refuge for those who keep His laws with cheerful endurance under all forms of duress and tribulation, but He does not promise a specific location.
