Neil Mc Iver, citing Psalm 78:12-20, an exposition of God's miracles on the Exodus and the grumbling refrain of our forebears, “Can God…?,” suggests that we sometimes lose trust in God after we learn what he requires of us. Everything God wants us to do is for our good and our growth. When we, like our forebears, presumptuously ask, “Can God…?, we need to realize that we demonstrate faithlessness. Instead of trusting God, we fret. We need to periodically take inventory of the things God has done for us, observing God's faithful character, to fortify us for future trials. We learn that God cannot lie and will do what He says He can do. God is stronger than any obstacle we may face. Our God, whom we serve, is able to provide all of our needs. We can also count on God to have patience with us even in our greatest weakness. We need to develop trust in God, calling to mind His past interventions for us, enabling us to keep His commandments and obey, commiting ourselves to the power of Jesus Christ, realizing that “God can.” Can God? * Faithlessness * Forgetfulness * Giants * God can * God's patience * God's power * “I never did put all my weight down * Is anyone else up there? * Jack * Jet aircraft analogy * Law of aerodynamics * Law of gravity * Law of the Spirit and Jesus Christ * Let go of the branch * Parting of the Red Sea * Pillar of cloud and fire * Power of God * Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego * Twelve spies * Uncle Oscar |
