Neil McIver, reflecting upon the grueling famine and siege in Samaria in which people reverted to cannibalism, reminds us that even in the most gruesome trials, God can make a way of escape if we have not forgotten how to pray, expressing the depths of our hearts. Trials often force us into a position needing to pray, exercising patience and trust, realizing what God has promised, God will bring to pass. Our attitudes are very important, asking not “Can God?” but affirming “God can.” We must realize that the promises of God are conditional if we obey. We cannot “hurry” God, but accept His answer which will always come in time as God relieved Samaria from the siege of the Assyrians. The words of God have to come true; God can and will make a way.

Always darkest before the dawn * Attitude * Can God? * Elijah * Elisha * Engraved in the Palm of His Hand * Famine * God will make a way * Illnesses * Impatience * Lepers * Noise of chariots * Patience * Prayers * Siege * Take things in our own hands * Too good to be true * Worry and Fret
