Ron Avey, reflecting on a recent trip to Washington D.C. at which time he visited many historic treasures, buildings, and battle fields, laments the depths to which we have fallen in our political system, a system in which Cap and Trade legislation (confiscatory tax on all forms of energy) was passed without ONE legislator having read the document. Following on the heels of that ill-planned and ill-advised legislation is a health reform bill, whose four trillion dollar price tag will literally bankrupt the nation. Even the Congressional Budget Office called it unstable. The administration finances this debacle by borrowing from China and printing money by fiat, guaranteeing never-ending inflation. Most of us feel stymied at doing anything about the greatest country in the world going down to destruction. We are admonished to pray and watch. We also need to: (1) be of good courage (as God encouraged Joshua) realizing that God is with us if we are with Him; (2) trust in the Lord, considering Him as a refuge, strength, fortress, and our rock; and (3) encourage one another, building up and edifying one another, shielding and protecting one another, bearing with one another and forgiving one another.
