Dave Havir, referring to the Writer’s Inkhorn Prophecy in Ezekiel 9, cautions us not to force this prophecy into a context in which it does not belong, adding that we should hate the sin, but love the sinner, being angry, but sinning not. Unwise economic decisions and deficit spending made by unscrupulous politicians today will irretrievably hurt our children and grandchildren for generations and generations to come. Refusing to deal with the stranger that has risen among us (and above us) will cause this nation to die. We are in a fight for our spiritual survival, every bit as intense as a physical wrestling match with a bully. We need to have the capacity to pray for our enemies, loving the sinner, but hating the sin. We should desire to be ‘marked’ with the writer’s inkhorn for “crying and sighing” for the abominations. The behavior of “sighing and crying” marks us for doing good. Our political leaders’ boast that we are not a Christian nation, embracing pagan multiculturalism, has undoubtedly aroused the anger of the God of Jacob’s descendants. Let us make sure that we sigh and cry for the abominations which are taking place in our nation.
