Ron Feaker, cuing in on Mark 8:34, acknowledges that we are obligated to follow God even though He has chosen not to reveal His form to us right now, making it necessary to exercise faith. Jesus Christ carefully chose His disciples, teaching them thoroughly, and inviting them to follow Him, equipping them to carry the gospel to the world. Sometimes young children meticulously imitate their parents; Our Father wants us to do the same thing with Him, following Him toward a special way of life. Often, as we mature in the faith, our expectations change. When we follow Christ, we are asked to deny ourselves certain physical things in order that we become set apart, upgraded, and transformed into God’s literal offspring. Our nature should be as trusting as sheep, following the voice of the Great Shepherd.
