Dave Havir, agreeing with Jeremiah that it is not within man’s way to direct his own steps, and that he is hopelessly incapable of judging, acknowledges that Jesus Christ is our Righteous Judge. God the Father is the ultimate Judge, but the day-to-day activities He has delegated to Jesus Christ. When Christ healed the crippled man on the Sabbath, He counseled Him not to sin any more, indicating that grace carries responsibility. When Jesus identified His Father, He made Himself equal to God, enraging the Jewish leaders. God the Father authorized Jesus Christ the responsibility to judge mankind as the Son of Man. In all of our behaviors regarding the Sabbath, it does not matter what people say is right, but what God considers right. As human beings, we have the responsibility not to offend others. Jesus Christ, as the Righteous Judge, has the capability of examining our hearts, determining what we need to change and adjust. God will comfort the afflicted, but will also afflict the comfortable. Jesus Christ can be both tender and tough, weeping over Jerusalem as well as casting the money changers out of the temple. God ultimately will send tribulation to civil and religious leaders who are now troubling society. The Righteous Judge will give us a reward if we love His appearing.
