James Moran, cuing in on Ephesians 5:1-2, encourages us to imitate Christ, walking in love toward others, edifying and encouraging others with our words, building warm relationships, and not grieving the Holy Spirit because we will not follow through on our good intentions. We should not be harboring anger or bitterness, but instead be forgiving, freeing ourselves to be kind and tender-hearted toward one another. In all situations we should be thankful, recognizing God’s hand in both pleasant and painful situations. In our relationships with our spouses, we need to submit ourselves one to another. Our relationships with our brethren should be conducted in the same fashion, imitating Christ in all aspects, continually cleansing ourselves in His Word, striving to be holy as Jesus Christ is holy, and imitating Him as He loves His mate (the Church) as Himself. Likewise, we must nourish our family members, building them up, and praising them. If we walk with God, we will never fail.
