Bernie Monsalvo, reminding us that we all have the responsibility to examine what we read and hear, warns us to be on guard against false teachers, comparing what we hear with the Word of God. We need to test the spirits, comparing them with the Spirit of God. The media can be a blessing or a curse depending on the degree of protective filtration we use, enabling us to absorb the good and discard the toxic or heretical. If we fear and hallow God, we protect ourselves from those who would maliciously deceive us, including the occult, who advocate that we depart from the law of God. If we do not fear or hallow God, we will be deceived by flattery and intrigue. We should not be dazzled with speaking ability or a person’s long tenure in the church if they do not speak the truth according to the law and testimony. There will be no shortage of deceivers. Hebrews 1:1 (the testimony of Jesus Christ) should be the litmus test for all things we take into our minds. False teachers are devoid of real understanding, having defiled their consciences.
