Gary Woodring, asking how Jesus redeemed the elect from death, and why Jesus was called the second Adam, takes us on a quick journey from the beginning of time when God willed that man was made in His image and would be given dominion over the earth, a time our parents Adam and Eve allowed the serpent or Satan the Devil to fatally sidetrack their destiny, separating themselves from God. Thankfully, God had proactively made a failsafe plan before the foundation of the world, a plan of redemption through Jesus Christ, the Messiah. God is sovereign, having prepared for all eventualities, having foreknowledge of all the impending events. Even though several times it looked as though God would pull the plug on humanity, He continued His vision choosing upright individuals to carry on His plan, including Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel), having intimate friendship with them. Ever since the time the first Adam gave up the dominion of the earth to the serpent, it has been Satan’s world. Satan repeatedly tried to kill the seed of the woman who would bruise him on the heel, but Jesus, the second Adam, qualified to remove control from Satan, restoring to humankind access to the tree of life and reunite mankind with God the Father. God’s plan from the very beginning will be realized, enabling us to be transformed into the image of His Son, having dominion over all of creation.
