Neil McIver, cuing in on Ruth 3:1-11, draws a parallel for us that we need to spend our time at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ. We should seek our place humbly, as the affianced bride of Christ, at his feet, anticipating a new bright future. Through Jesus Christ, we experience (1) all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3-4), (2) we have redemption in His blood and salvation, (3) we have a close relationship with the Father in Heaven, (4) we have absolute security, (5) we have an ever-present Lord (Hebrews 13:5), (6) we have an advocate in Heaven (1 John 2:2), (7) we have a high priest in Heaven (Hebrews 7:25-28), and (8) we have a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). Like Ruth, we see possibilities of happiness and fulfillment in our future as we are betrothed to Christ. There are times when the redeemed must seek to find Him, as Ruth presented herself before Boaz, requesting that Christ cover us. Jesus wants to get close to us as we want to get close to Him. Like Ruth, we must be prepared for a total makeover, with Christ taking care of all the details of our transformation, and we must strive to get to Jesus feet, enabling us to yield to His transformation of us.
