Neil McIver, relating the story of a young lady who had received an invitation to the school prom, but was indecisive about what kind of dress to buy, launches out on a message on decision making and the problem of indecision. Some people make decisions which are hurtful. Other people make decisions on the basis of friends or peer pressure. God’s Word has been given to us to make our decision-process easier. In order to find out our life’s destination, we need to inquire after God’s counsel. One myth is that God (or God’s will) is hard to find. What God desires for our life has been clearly revealed in the Bible in His laws and statutes. Another myth is that God wants us to know everything about the future. Though we do not know what tomorrow holds, we are encouraged to live by faith, realizing God’s kingdom is our ultimate destination. God wants us to trust Him step-by-step. The third myth is that God’s greatest goal for our present life is our happiness. God is more concerned about our godly character than our worldly comfort, and our holiness rather than our happiness. In order to change our character and enable us to bear fruit, He may have to prune us with trials. If we trust in God with all our heart, lean not on our own understanding, and acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will guide our paths, removing obstacles in front of us.
