Ed Mitchell, affirming that a sterling definition of God is that “God is Love,” suggests that God has always loved, and will continue to love, making it possible for us to share eternal life with Him. God loved us first with deep, tender affection before we loved Him, foreordaining Christ’s sacrifice for our sins before the foundation of the world. Jesus Christ has always served the Father, striving to please Him in all ways, including taking on all the attributes of human nature, yet without one iota of sin. Jesus Christ demonstrated His love for us by laying down His life for us. We need to take on the mind of Jesus Christ, taking on a humble role of a servant, willing to become a total sacrifice.
