Neil McIver, contending that an unleavened crumb is more than enough, reminds us that we do not need help with all of our problems, just our biggest and heaviest ones when we are at our wits end. The woman with the demon-possessed daughter in Matthew 15:21-28 was clearly desperate and she saw Jesus as her only hope. Jesus can move our mountains, meet our needs, forgive our sins, and heal our loved ones, if we bring our petitions to Him and apply the same persistence that the woman with the demon-possessed daughter exercised, overcoming roadblocks of religion, race, prejudice, and rejection. We have to remember that God’s silence is not to be construed as rejection, but perhaps a test of our faith, prompting maturity in our spiritual growth. The roadblocks in our faith almost always serve as opportunities in disguise. Like the woman, we must resist every roadblock thrown in our way, realizing that an unleavened crumb from the Lord’s hand will be more than enough to sustain us.
