Ron Feaker, reflecting upon problems from his previous cataract surgery, blames those problems on failure to ask for anointing prior to his second surgery. When we ask God for intervention, we ask according to His will for what is spiritually beneficial for us. Hezekiah was a man of prayer, offering up a fervent prayer seeking God’s mercy, receiving God’s quick response, granting him 15 additional years and a miraculous assurance that God’s promises were sure. King Ahaziah, on the other hand, sought other sources of healing and received a curse for doing so. The choices we make have a profound impact on our future. We often make requests of God, but God also makes requests of us. If we fail to follow through as had King Saul, we may expect the same kinds of consequences. We need to adhere to what God asks us to do. We have a responsibility to discern and root out false teaching. We need to remember that in spite of the grimness of the times, God will continually be with us.
