Nathan Kimmons shares his experiences at the Legacy Foundation in Chiang Mai , Thailand, a school which teaches English, Bible, and Computer. Legacy provides an outreach for refugees from Burma. The mission statement for Legacy Foundation is “To teach tomorrow’s leaders today.” The students that finish have contributed significantly to society. La Nunan (Malot—or third son) from northern Burma has excelled in English, recently passed an English profeciency exam, qualifying him to enter the local university at Chiang Mai. He is a master translator at the Feast of Tabernacles, translating effortlessly from English to Burmese. In addition, he gives sermonettes, helps with construction projects, and assists at the refugee camps, initiating clothes drives, recruiting teachers, using his multiple connections to improve the lives of the refugees. Jay Pabulo, Dr. Love, sleeps on a hard floor with a dictionary for his pillow. As a child, he was trained by his father to box, learning self discipline. At a young age, he became a Buddhist monk for six years, learning selflessness as well as fluency in Japanese and Thai languages, qualifying him to become a tour guide. Later he became a professional dirt bike racer. This past year, he became baptized and took his first Passover. Jay plans to start a school as soon as he has a teaching credential. Legacy Foundation will start this year with a full capacity with 20 students. Bronson Sexton, Leon’s son, has shouldered many of the administrative duties of the foundation.
