Dave Havir, asking the question, “What are the imaginations of your heart?” affirms that God has given us a mind, enabling the coupling of the spirit in man with God’s Holy Spirit. We are to use our minds to plan, attaining education, not checking them at the door when we embark upon theological topics such as God’s Kingdom and the resurrection. Although we may use our minds to meditate on the glory of God, we can also misuse it for evil purposes. Though we only know God partially by our calling, our experiences, and the revealed scriptures, we are admonished not to place anything before Him or make any false images or concepts about Him. As parents, we are influencing, by our behavior, the way our offspring see God. In our incremental quest to learn about God, we sometimes have growth spurts, making us embarrassed about our previous ignorance and misunderstanding. Sometimes the best points of truth come through pain. We need to seek God when He is near, but we can be assured that when we need Him, He will be there.
