Dave Havir reminds us that God has given us the power of imagination which we must use carefully and productively, using it to love God with all our minds and our neighbors as ourselves. We can be hindered from loving our neighbor through false or faulty information. It is always possible that we are in error about the perception we have, creating false Technicolor scenarios in our minds. We need to be up front and direct with all people rather than carrying around misconceptions and erroneous beliefs about them. Joseph suffered imprisonment because of malicious lies. Paul was imprisoned because of false accusations and faulty information. Jesus was also convicted by gossip and malicious lies. Because of bad information, we may be slandered and vilified too. We should be careful not to poison the wells against other people by concocting false information or processing correct information in a negative emotional state. By allowing our imaginations to torture us, we allow Satan to create a fake world. We can neutralize Satan through the power of God’s Holy Spirit, focusing on reality and truth.
