Zephaniah is a direct ominous warning to modern Israel and Judah and the Church of God in general, as well as each of us individually. We need to seek the Eternal earnestly to be protected from the coming gloom. God’s protection is conditional on our obedience and willingness to submit to God’s correction. God should be continually a part of our life as we sharpen our spiritual intuitiveness. We should love God with our heart, soul, and mind, following godly, selfless impulses prompted by God’s Word and His Holy Spirit, being in tune with His voice. We need to be sensitive to the advice of other people “when the shoe fits.” We need to trust in God before things get perilous. It behooves us to draw close to our Heavenly Father, considering Him as a Dad and a friend.
