Mark Gully, reflecting on the subject of spiritual gifts, asks us to discover and explore the gifts God has given us, suggests that we can influence others positively, providing testimony and witness. Gifts are not something that pastors and teachers possess exclusively. Gifts do not motivate us to demonstrate bizarre behaviors. Gifts are not something that only lucky people have. Gifts are what God has given us for works of service. God has a gift for each and every one of us for the purpose of serving others in the church so that the body of Christ can be built up. Every one of us has received the wonderful grace of God, enabling us to perform reasonable service. All have gifts; not everyone has the same gift, but every gift we have are designed to edify the congregation. Any kind of a service for the benefit of the body is a gift of the spirit. Whatever we have a desire or propensity to do is probably our gift. Gallup suggests that talents consist of recurring thought patterns or behaviors, described as billions of synaptic connections. These intricate connections can be enhanced by God’s Holy Spirit to serve the congregation.
