Reg Killingley - Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

Reg Killingley, reflecting that we even though we live in a scary world, some people are pushing the panic button when there is no reason to do so. Many individuals, anticipating radiation poising from the Fukushima power plant (6000 miles away) are needlessly hoarding supplies of potassium iodide. People are generally afraid of things for which they know little or nothing about-such as the long term effects of microwaves. Many ruthless dictators employ the fear of terrorism to keep themselves in power. If fear becomes all-consuming in our lives, the consequences can be catastrophic, including suicide and self-destructive behavior. Fear is a powerful motivator for good or ill. The scriptures assure us that perfect love casts out all fear. If we are filled with fear, we don’t know God. Because Abraham knew God intimately, he was not afraid of doing what God asked him to do. Jesus has called his disciples (including us) His friends. Consequently, if we know Christ intimately and accurately, we do not need to be afraid.
