Ron Feaker, focusing on the topic of putting out of sin, recognizes that we are all subject to Satan’s wiles and the pulls of our human nature, bequeathed to us by Adam’s transgression of God’s law. Nevertheless, we are all responsible for what we do. God gives us the ability to repent on a day by day basis. One area that needs to be examined is how our words (hurtful or healing) affect others. We have an obligation to follow and uphold God’s laws, making them an integral part of our lives, developing God’s character within us. Our tongue, as the indicator of our spirit, controls our destiny and should be used responsibly, guided by the Word of God, influencing positive thoughts and healing words of edification and enabling us to set a good example for others. We should ask God to thoroughly examine our hearts, revealing to us the things we need to change, coming to grips with our true nature, enabling us to repent, replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts. We need to regard our relationship with God as special. In our relationships with our fellow human beings, we need to keep our words sweet, just in case we have to eat them.
