Ron Feaker, focusing on the upcoming Feast of Pentecost, asks us whether we have ever questioned our baptism. Baptism symbolizes the burial of our sinful self in a watery grave. When we are baptized, we commit ourselves to a life of repentance and bearing spiritual fruit. It was through God’s Holy Spirit that the world was created. Pentecost initiates the great harvest of spiritual beings, created in God’s image, transformed with God’s Holy Spirit. The first Pentecost was attended with a miracle of hearing and speaking, enabling all members of a diverse crowd to hear Peter’s message in their own respective tongues, prompting a baptism of 3000 people, whose lives would never be again the same. The instructions for calculating and keeping Pentecost were outlined in Leviticus 23 and Deuteronomy 16. The apostle Paul faithfully kept Pentecost. God’s called-out ones continue to keep the Feast of Pentecost, becoming empowered (via God’s Holy Spirit) to keep God’s Law in the letter and the spirit having Godly contentment, while the world around rejects God’s Law. We are commanded to present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice, having our minds transformed into His image and character.
