Dave Havir - Liberty part 1 - The Dynamics of Bondage

Dave Havir, focusing upon the topic of liberty, begins with examining the dynamics of bondage. Satan desires to take away all of our freedoms, forcing us into bondage. The greater church of God is in a mortal struggle to retain its freedom. Regarding enslavement and bondage, one could see parallels in the causes for people becoming eunuchs: (1) they were born that way/nature caused it, (2) they were made that way by environment, and (3) they chose to voluntarily become that way. We need to seek the counsel of God on this matter, realizing that truth can come from the scriptures, a brother in Christ, or even a total stranger; truth is truth. Some bondage we were born into, but other bondage has been forced upon us by our surroundings, including war and world economic bondage. We need to learn to endure those things over which we have no control. Often the responsibility for our bondage falls squarely on our own shoulders. We have the obligation to extricate ourselves from bondage to humans, always dealing from a position of strength, but we should prefer to be in bondage to God and righteousness, which is tantamount to freedom.
