Dave Havir - Liberty part 2 - 5 Aspects of Liberty

Dave Havir, discussing the power of liberty, enumerates five distinct aspects of liberty, including (1) God loves liberty, (2) we need to beware of those who promise liberty, but take it away, (3) we need to appreciate our physical liberty, (4) we need to appreciate our spiritual liberty, and (5) we need to use our liberty to serve others. God gave us the Jubilee, enabling people to extricate themselves from self-imposed economic bondage. Jesus Christ proclaimed liberty from sin, releasing people from the tyranny of legalism and the bondage from disease. We need to be aware of people who promise liberty, but have an agenda of slavery or subjugation. We need to develop a thankful heart for our physical freedom, realizing that a thankful heart prevents bitterness and keeps God in our focus. Even the poor in America live in royalty compared to much of the rest of the world. When we reflect on our spiritual liberty, we realize that God delivers us from the bonds of corruption, enabling us to become a member of His family. A major reason God has made us free is to spread this freedom along to others, edifying and encouraging them, developing empathy for them.
