Stan West - There Is Nothing New Under The Sun

Stan West, focusing on the lesson in Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 that there is nothing new under the sun, suggests that there could be a positive or negative spin one could put upon this verse. Some consistency and reliability is desirable, such as family relationships or church family relationships, many of which remain stable from generation to generation. Everybody has the desire to be on the cutting edge of new information, new inventions, and new ideas, but most things are simply the recycling or reorganization of existing ideas or things. Even the prophetic events in Matthew 24 have perennial occurred. Famine, tribulation, and persecution have happened before. Only the magnitude and intensity will be different. Even though we will find nothing new under the sun, something new will occur over the sun from the hand of Almighty God, delivering His people from the horrific events which will befall the world, as He had at the time of Elisha, miraculously delivering Israel from the Arameans. God’s ability to rescue His people has been demonstrated in biblical history, and will be again be demonstrated in the future when Christ will return and make all things new. We must look beyond what is under the sun, beyond the futile earthly regimes, to a permanent Kingdom from above whose inhabitants will have God’s law as an integral part of their nature.
