Stan West suggests that this day may be a memorial for the termination of the form of civilization we now know, a civilization taking its cue from the god of this world, Satan the devil. This entire world and its ways are in desperate need of an upgrade. Satan downgraded all of us in the Garden of Eden. In this Feast of Trumpets, the First Fruits will be the first responders, ushering in God's Kingdom. Hebrews 11 is a record of the spiritual first responders, those who often had to go against the grain of society. The Day of Trumpets stands midpoint between the giving of God's Holy Spirit and the upgrade of God's first responders into full members of God's ruling family. We need to repeatedly express our thanksgiving for things that have been received. The futility and frustration of what we feel now will be eclipsed by the breathtaking upgrade into members of God's family.
