Dave Havir, sharing his inspiration he received from John 9, expounds on an incident in this chapter that revolves around a man who was blind from birth. The lessons elicited from this chapter torpedoes assumptions about the health and wealth gospel, blessings and curses, the consequences of sin, and the causes of disease and affliction. Sometimes we do suffer for our sins, but at other times we suffer for other reasons. Suffering may be a way to glorify God. Healing takes place in many various ways. Exercise and diet may certainly be contributory factors in healing, but God has the ultimate say-so. Religious legalists have the tendency to brow-beat and intimidate people through threat of excommunication.  Many religious systems have become barriers separating people from God— antichrist systems. Thankfully, we are all judged by what we do with what we know.
