| David Maas, reflecting on his visit with Finnish Ambassador Jaako Berquist several years ago, suggests that there are parallels between ambassadors representing foreign countries, and God's called out ones representing the Kingdom of God to the world. A faithful ambassador is: a representative of another culture, another way of life; in this capacity, he does not give his own opinions, but advances the positions of his home country; he functions as a servant or steward, representing his country faithfully; and as such, he practices hospitality, courtesy, and graciousness, and brings refreshment to those to whom he comes in contact. Acts 17; 23:6-8; 16:37-39; 22:25-29 * Be ready to give an answer * Called out of world * Cause no offense * Colossians1:13 * Citizenship in heaven * Consulate * Cultural representative * Establishing common ground * Esteem others * I Peter 3:15 * I Timothy 3:1-7 * Finnish consulate * Hospitality * Giving no offense * Gracious speech * Humble and gracious attitude * James 1:19 * I Corinthians 10:32-33 * John 14: 10 * Israeli ambassador * Jaako Bergquist * John 15:19 * Matthew 18:7 * Paul's diplomatic skills * Philippians 2:4; 3:20 * Rabbi Kahane * Speak not own words * World Classics radio program |
