| Ed Costanza, using a chain referencing technique he had learned at the Feast of Tabernacles in Colorado Springs from Phill Dunagan of the Western Region Church of God, shows us how we can comfortably show and explain the passages related to the Sabbath to others. He recommends purchasing a Bible with wide margins, such as the Oxford Bible. The initial scripture explaining the Sabbath would be Genesis 2:2, indicating that God rested on the Sabbath, sanctifying it for a holy purpose. We would write this on a blank page at the front of the Bible. In the margin of the page on which the scripture is located, we would write the next scripture, instructing us to turn to Exodus 16:4-5, stating that the Sabbath is a test commandment, writing Exodus 16:23 in the margin. Upon explicating this verse, we would write in the margin Exodus 20:8-11, identifying the context in the Decalogue. In the margin we would write Exodus 31:15-17, identifying the Sabbath as a perpetual sign. In the margin, we would write Deuteronomy 5:12-15, again identifying the Sabbath in the Ten Commandments. The chain would lead from the Old Testament to the new. Ezekiel 20:12-23 shows the cause and effect of breaking the Sabbath; Mark 1:21, Mark 2:27 and Luke 4:16 indicates that Jesus Christ taught on the Sabbath; Matthew 24:20 warns us to pray that our flight be not on Sabbath; Luke 3:56 indicates that after His death, his disciples were still keeping the Sabbath; Hebrews 4:9 focuses on the rest of the people of God; Acts 13:14-15 and 42-44 show the disciples kept the Sabbath; in Acts 16:12-13, the Sabbath still kept in Gentile area; Acts 17:1-4 Paul teaches on three consecutive Sabbaths; Acts 18:1-4 Paul works six days and rests on Sabbath; Isaiah 56:2-7 is a millennial reference to the Sabbath; Isaiah 57:13 reminds us to call the Sabbath a delight. This panoply of chained scriptural reference will help us explain our rationale for keeping God's Sabbath.
