Dave Havir focuses on Romans 8:11, an encouraging verse about God's Spirit quickening our mortal bodies, preparing us for resurrection to eternal life. We might ask, "How much of God's Holy Spirit do we need to be resurrected?" Thankfully, a little bit of God's Spirit goes a long way. God puts His Spirit into us to be used with our human reason (or spirit in man) to accomplish His purpose. We are commanded to think, analyze, and discern. The Kingdom parables (of the mustard seed and the leavening) seem to imply that it only takes a little bit of God's Spirit to enable us to grow spiritually. God's Spirit in us makes us blessed, but it does not elevate us over others. Although any sin can be repented of, it is nevertheless possible to stifle or attenuate God's Spirit. Violating any of God's Laws can hurt us. If we still have the motivation to repent, we have not committed the unpardonable sin. We must be continually praying, God be merciful to me-a sinner. We cannot allow God's Holy Spirit, depicted as a river, to become stagnant within us, dammed up with debris of pride, bitterness, and jealousy. We must let this spirit flowing from us, loving God and serving our fellow man. God's work in you is to help other people.
