James Moran, cuing in on Jesus Christ's temptation in Matthew 4, observes that Jesus Christ had thoroughly prepared Himself for this trial by totally submitting and humbling Himself to God, resisting the Devil. We need to also develop a close, intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father in prayer (without ceasing and giving thanks for all things) and Bible study. We need to meditate on scriptures and regularly fast, scheduling periods of quiet tranquil time. We can be an example to all by our service, and by building strong relationships in our family and church community. When we see the regime in Washington (under the inspiration of Satan) perpetrating all kinds of evil against the Constitution and the American people, we need to realize that God has placed limitations on Satan's power. God has removed our protective hedge and has allowed godless leaders to assume power, promoting legal sexual perversion, sacrificing unborn children through abortion, and promoting blatant gender role reversal, producing bitter evil fruit. In the midst of this cultural evil, we must seek to enter the straight gate, listening to the voice of our Master, Jesus Christ, and our Good Shepherd. We are to metaphorically build our spiritual houses on the Rock, protecting us from the onslaught of the beast power and its machinations.
