Bernie Monsalvo, focusing on the significance of the Last Great Day, suggests that the churches of this world have virtually no understanding of this convocation, reminding us also that this convocation is separate from the Feast of Tabernacles.
This day reveals the destiny of all people who have died, never having any inkling of God's plan. God has had the mercy to make us privy to His plan, allowing us to be part of His kingdom. The Last Great Day, along with the understanding of born again and the doctrine of the order of resurrections as well as the spirit in man are all unique to the greater church of God.
Man's access to immortality comes through God's Holy Spirit; man does not have inherent immortality. Once we receive God's Holy Spirit, we must never turn away from it. The Last Great Day is the day of mercy and grace, extending Jesus Christ's sacrifice to all humans who have ever lived.
The majority of humans will be resurrected to mortal life, with an option to transition to immortal life for those who are repentant and submit to His laws or annihilation in a lake of fire for a rebellious, recalcitrant minority.
Isaiah speaks of a future time when mortal men (all who have lived and died from before the flood to the present) will be allotted 100 years to demonstrate their willingness to yield to God's will.
This return of the spirit of man to resurrected people, giving these hapless individuals their first chance at following God's plan for their lives, is the ultimate expression of God's mercy. The overwhelming majority of humans who have ever lived, multiple billions of people, will be given a chance to yield to God and enter His family. Death will be permanently blotted out.
